On October 1st, the Chinese Lantern Riddle Culture Festival opened at the Shibi Mountain Scenic Area in Raoping County, Guangdong. About 250 guests and participants from all over China, as well as countries including the United States, Singapore, and Malaysia, gathered in the county to celebrate this grand event in the world of Chinese lantern riddles.
The Raoping Lantern Riddle Culture Monument Gallery
Lantern riddles involve attaching riddles to lanterns, allowing people to appreciate the lanterns while solving the riddles. This unique folk art originated in China and often focuses on the meaning of words, such as a single character, a poem, an object, or a name. The Chinese Lantern Riddle Culture Festival is renowned as the largest and most prestigious lantern riddle event, with participants of the highest caliber. It is often referred to as the Olympics of the lantern riddle world and has been held for seven editions.
Enthusiastic citizens solving riddles
This year's festival will feature a wide range of activities, including the Chinese Lantern Riddle Elite Competition (individual competition), the Global Chinese Lantern Riddle Exhibition and Guessing Game, the Chinese Lantern Riddle "Evergreen" Challenge (individual competition), the Chinese Lantern Riddle Ultimate Showdown (team competition), and the Chinese Lantern Riddle Art Inheritance and Innovation Forum.
Lantern riddles at the Raoping Lantern Riddle Culture Monument Gallery
Raoping in Chaozhou has a rich history of lantern riddle culture, and the county has been diligently nurturing this traditional art form. The Raoping Lantern Riddle Culture Monument Gallery in the Shibi Mountain Scenic Area consists of stone-carved riddle platforms, scenic wall inscriptions, and stone-carved riddle monuments, all accompanied by QR codes for checking the answers. The gallery showcases over 160 lantern riddles, and most of the answers are related to Raoping's natural and cultural landmarks. It integrates Raoping's customs, history, and contemporary contributions to lantern riddles, featuring masterpieces by contemporary riddlers and the works of the older generation of lantern riddle experts.
中华灯谜文化节在广东饶平开幕
10月1日，中华灯谜文化节在饶平县石壁山风景区拉开帷幕，来自全国各地及美国、新加坡、马来西亚等国家约50支海内外灯谜代表队共计250多名嘉宾及参赛选手汇聚饶平，共享中华灯谜界盛会。
灯谜就是将谜语贴在灯上，让人一面赏灯，一面猜谜，是中国独创的民间艺术。谜底多着眼于文字意义，如一个字，一句诗，一个物或一个名称。据了解，中华灯谜文化节是规格****、参赛选手水平最高、影响最为深远的中华灯谜顶级赛事，被誉为灯谜界的奥林匹克大赛，至今已举办七届。
本次灯谜文化节将进行中华灯谜精英赛（个人赛）、环球华人灯谜大展猜、中华灯谜“常青树”对抗赛（个人赛）、中华灯谜巅峰争霸赛（团体赛）以及中华灯谜艺术传承与创新论坛等活动。
潮州饶平灯谜文化源远流长，一直以来，饶平县精心培育灯谜传统文化。据介绍，饶平县石壁山风景区中的饶平灯谜文化碑廊由石雕谜台、碑记景墙、石雕谜碑组成，配套有扫码查看谜底系统。碑廊镌刻灯谜逾160则，基本以饶平的自然与人文相关名词作为谜底，融入式展示了饶平的风土人情和历史文化，荟萃了饶平当代谜人的精品力作和老一辈谜家的传世之作。
